When i turn on my laptop, the dell logo appears then what follows is a black screen that comes up saying: "windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem: 1. insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. choose your language settings and click next. 3.. Every time i start up my dell xps m1730 gaming laptop it will fail to start stay on a black screen and sometimes when i press a key on the keyboard the cpu light will. My dell computer does not start up properly: i will push the on-button and the green start-up / power light will come on, but the computer will not start. there will be no sound of the computer.
For the last 2 weeks i have been getting the following message on system start up: "checking media (fail)". the message appears twice then the system starts normally and i haven't noticed any problems message "checking media (fail)" on boot i am using a dell inspiron 5520 laptop with win 8 (64 bit) and service pac 0.. In many cases, problems can be fixed and your computer up and running again in a short amount of time. bad electrical connection. this is a very common causes of computer failure in older computers. the constant heating and cooling of the computer, atmospheric conditions and dust can all play a part..
