Windows 7 installation stuck at expanding windows files (0%) gozobadrian jul 8, 2015, 2:10 am yesterday, a friend of mine asked me to perform a clean windows 7 install on his pc.. Hi all, after you guys solved all my problems i had with my old pc, i decided to take ur advice and bought a new one. when i tried to install windows 7, the installation basically stops when it is 'expanding files' at 0%.. Trying to install windows 7 on new clean hd put in a new hd on a dell xps-400, took the memory to 4g, hd 160g. purchase windows 7 oem disc. get past the lic agreement, copies files, very guickly less.
Windows 7 install stuck at 0% on "expanding files" but works off usb i torrented a windows 7 install disc iso. i burned it to a disc but when i tried to install windows 7 it gets to "expanding files" and freezes at 0% .. Trying to install windows 7 beta from an iso and it reaches "expanding files" and hangs there forever at 0%. have tried creating the vm as both vista and server 2008, both hang at the same point.. I'm trying to get 7 to install and i'm having a bear of a time. it has taken a tremendously long time to cycle through the steps and after a little more than an hour, it was only at 6% of expanding windows files..
